6 Ways to Make Passive Income for Artists

How does one create passive income for artists? Simple! There are Two things they must do. First, they must always be creating new art. Second, They must always be using their creative mind to create new ways to sell it. Here are a few examples below.

Book Covers/Logos/Stock Illustrations

As an artist, you may have a keen eye for design. Book cover design, Logos and Illustrations. You can upload these to your website and set a for sale sign.  Allow the customer to slap their book and author title onto your premade book cover, or use your design as a logo. Even stock illustrations have a growing market as well. The best part is, you are selling the use of your design and not the full rights, so you can sell it as many times as you like, passively. And this is one of the many reasons everyone needs a website…here are a lot more: Why you NEED a website.

E-Courses

Create an online course and sell it. Online courses are one of the fastest growing sources of revenue on the internet today. There is no reason you can’t be apart of that system. If you aren’t as good as you think you should be…create a beginners course. Find something unique to sell. Instead of Drawing 101, maybe think about a course on drawing theory, or a course on the types of tools and proper usage and maintenance. There’s always an angle. Find it and use it.

Upload your course on one of the many platforms out there. And not just because of the discount you receive for using my link, or the affiliate pay I receive if you buy from them. They really are beginner friendly and an all encompassing e-course platform. Click Below to:

Create a Youtube Channel

I know you’ve heard the tales of people making millions from youtube channels. And there are some. That may not ever be you, but it is a possibility.  Why? Because you are an artist. Which means you DO create art. Don’t you? Therefore, follow me here, at some point you will be spending hours doing something that others might like to see. Record it and upload it. I actually wrote an entire article about making passive income on youtube here.

I love sketching and painting. Yes, I took a few college courses, but I’ve spent many more hours watching youtube channels. I’ve probably given over 40 hours of my life learning how to paint a lion realistically in acrylic paints. I regret nothing.

Affiliate Marketing

In the Affiliate Marketing Blueprint the process of getting paid for recommending products is explained. Say, for example, you make a youtube video or write a book on how to draw faces perfectly. Let’s say you prefer a certain brush to get the texture of the skin to look flawlessly realistic. You could partner with the company that makes those brushes. Includ a link to those brushes in your youtube description, or book. And if someone buys through your link, you get a commission, simple right? It’s not guaranteed people will buy, but if they do that’s passive income in your pockets.

Online Store

Yes, a store. It doesn’t have to be your own products either. You could get involved in dropshipping. Create an online store that sells art supplies that you source from different wholesale suppliers. And because of the model of dropshipping, you don’t even have to have any inventory. And because there is no inventory, there is no restocking, and no overhead (besides the costs of running the website). Money in your sleep, if you are willing to do the setup. If you want to know more about the model and process of dropshipping, check out this article: $1,000 a month Dropshipping!

Sell E-books

Simple right? Even if you aren’t that much of a writer, that’s still perfect. I paid $30 for a book that only had hand drawn pictures. But also…I regret nothing. One of the most useful art books I’ve ever bought showed me how to draw something by showing a picture in several different stages of completion. And once you create the book and put it up for sale…then all you need to do is collect the profits!

Scale Up

Don’t just do one of these things! If you are going for passive profits, go for the whole shebang. If you create an illustration e-book, and it sells. Make another. Then make a video course. And a youtube channel. Relying on one source of income isn’t the way to wealth, and can only lead to catastrophic failure. Never give up, never stop scaling up…and most of all, don’t stop creating.
