The Affiliate Marketing Blue Print

AFFILIATE MARKETING 101:
What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting a company’s product. For each sale that you make, you receive a percentage of the profit. It’s not hard but it is very involved. For  a more in depth step-by-step tutorial that will give the specific tips and strategies, check out the e-book 7 Figure Mastery.

How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?

There are three players in the affiliate marketing eco-system: The vendor -> affiliate marketer -> consumer

A vendor wants to sell a product,  so he recruits an affiliate marketer. The affiliate marketer in turn advertises, recommends products, and essentially entices consumers to make a purchase. With a successful sale, the affiliate marketer earns a commission.

How Does Affiliate Marketing Facilitate Passive Income?

When an affiliate marketer writes e.g., a blog post, and adds products link to the page, that page gets the ability to earn money passively. The blog and the affiliate link have to remain relevant and active, to continue earning income passively. The blog also has to have a good SEO ranking to maintain its page traffic.

For example:

An article pertaining to a Drop Shipping tutorial will earn money passively, for as long as the content and affiliate link is up to date.

When it comes to physical products e.g., Amazon products, customers who read the reviews on your blog will purchase from your affiliate link. No other action will be required for you to earn passively. Amazon affiliate links and other companies, have an expiration duration, so you’ll need to update them.

For this reason, you’ll need plugins such as WP Link Status Pro, to manage your affiliate links (  https://www.formget.com/broken-link-checker-wordpress-plugins/ )

How Does the Affiliate Marketer Advertise to Customers?

There are several methods utilized by affiliate marketers. The three most popular are:

Creating blog content that includes relevant descriptions, stories, recommendations, reviews and links to the product

Opening an e-commerce store and selling a product in that store

Sending out email blasts. This is only successful if you have a loyal blog following.

11 Step Start to Affiliate Mastery

1. Decide what method to start affiliate marketing with e.g., blogging

2. Create a blog (

https://www.theblogstarter.com/wordpress/?msclkid=dd873487c30218975ef26875410 )

3. Find the industry and niche you want to write on e.g., Information technology and website hosting

4. Find a product (s) you wish to promote e.g., plugin software and website hosting companies

5. Conduct a Google search for the affiliate program connected to the product(s)

6. Sign up for the products affiliate program

The product may feature on Amazon, so be sure to sign up with their Amazon affiliate program.

7. Amazon runs a separate affiliate program for the products sold on its site. Sign up

8. The vendor will provide you with an affiliate link. Integrate the link with your blog as part of a relevant article e.g., a report on affordable web hosting. The unique ad link will enable the vendor to track customer traffic and purchases from your blog

9. Optimize your page and work on your SEO ranking. Ensure that your blog features on Googles 1st two pages. The better your blogs SEO ranking, the more the readers, the more the sales ( https://seo-hacker.com/complete-site-optimization-tutorial/ )

10. Earn a percentage commission for every purchase made! You can earn anywhere from $10 to $1,000 onwards, depending on what you sell and the percentage commission offered

11. Repeat the process: look for new products, sign up to their affiliate programs, write captivating content, make commissions, increase your SEO ranking, and repeat!

Promoting an Affiliate Product: Questions to Ask

As a blogger, protect your brand by promoting items that are of good quality and useful. Provide honest and accurate content, and your subscribers will make purchases.

You should ask yourself:

Is this product relevant to the content page it appears on? To the overall blog?

E.g., a PetSmart affiliate link would look out of place on a hi-octane,  extreme sports blog

Is this a useful product to promote? Would I use it? Are its benefits worth promoting to others?

Is the commission rate reasonable?

Affiliate Marketing Products: Physical vs Informational vs Services

Affiliate marketing promotes 3 types of products i.e.

1. Physical products e.g., computers, phones

2. Informational products e.g., educational courses, ebooks

3. Services e.g., web hosting, HR consultants

So what type of product will you promote? Let’s go through their different features.

Physical Products

Due to its grip on e-commerce, Amazon has an affiliate program second to none. Matter of fact, it’s the worlds most extensive affiliate program.

You just need to sign up and earn commissions from any product!

The only issue with Amazon’ commissions on physical products is that they are very low. Granted, physical products have huge manufacturing overheads as compared to information and service products.

In 2018, Amazon changed it’s affiliate’ commissions percentages and policies. Please be informed that since 2017, individual states are not permitted to participate in Amazons Affiliates. Amazon disagrees with taxation laws found in those states.

As it stands, the least percentage commission paid on Amazon is 1% on video games and consoles. The highest is 10% on fashion items and Amazon coins ( https://smallbusiness.chron.com/amazon-affiliate-commission-structure-63046.html )

Now that’s not to say that you won’t be able to make good money from Amazon affiliate commissions. Far from it!

Some bloggers make good money from Amazon’s affiliate program. The blogger at Income School earned $147,000 from all his four blogs combined, thanks to Amazons Affiliate Marketing Program ( https://incomeschool.com/how-much-amazon-associates-earn/ ). He is, however, the exception not the rule.

Be sure to follow Amazon affiliate program guidelines to prevent your account from being suspended or banned ( https://stream-seo.com/banned-amazon-10000-per-month-0/ )

Certain products, especially bulky, and rare, priceless items that cannot be shipped easily, are usually promoted outside Amazons Affiliates program. You will, however, have to search for the specific brands and their affiliate programs on Google.

Informational Products

An information product is usually created to teach or provide you with instruction on any given topic. A course on Amazon FBA is an information product.

Educators, bloggers, entrepreneurs, can author informational materials. Basically, anyone who deems themselves an expert in any field, can write an instruction manual and sell it!

Some gurus sell courses that cost thousands of dollars!

Information products do not have significant production costs attached to them. You instead pay for the popularity, education, skill, and years of experience amassed by the author. The market demand for these courses determines the high sales price.

For example:

Life Coach Tony Robbins 5 day live events and seminars are worth $5,000! His training manuals average $200 per item. While his commissions are on the lower side at 15%, you still stand to make good money as his affiliate marketer.

There are a number of reasons why information products are so great to promote:

They teach people to make money, so people consider them investments

Their popularity makes them marketable and they, in turn, command higher pricing

Thankfully, higher pricing means higher affiliate commissions of around 15% – 50%.  With some courses priced at $1000, you stand to earn $150 – $500 per course!

Sounds good!

The only issue is that because the material is trending, most creators of information products are protective and cautious. They usually engage only those who’ve passed their rigorous evaluation to join their programs. Finding some of these affiliate programs is also time intensive. However, YouTube would be your best bet in this regard. Most gurus have snippets of their materials on YouTube. Popular YouTube gurus feature courses on Amazon FBA, Life Coaching, Drop Shipping, etc.

Services

An online service such as web hosting would probably provide you with the best and most recurring commissions. The entire blogging world wants to be hosted by a reliable hosting site.

BlueHost is one such web hosting company. They pay 65% on commissions!

Promoting Affiliate Products

How to Promote an Affiliate Offer:

So now you have the products you want to promote.

How do you implement the affiliate offer?

Three important ways:

Share information

If you are a new blogger, you may start by sharing the blogging tools you use in a list e.g., web hosting, SEO optimization software, page extension tools, etc. Join the affiliate programs connected to these products and voila, you are earning money from the resources that you use!

Review items

Purchase everyday items from Amazon and review them. Very simple! Be honest, descriptive, and emotional about the product. Provide an affiliate marketing link so that the reader may purchase the product directly from your page

Comparison reviews

You may also review and recommend products, compared and contrasted against each other e.g., Hershey’s vs. Cadburys

Create tutorials

As you perfect your affiliate marketing game, create step by step tutorials and add affiliate links that you deem useful

Email lists

At some point, your blog will have subscribers. A substantial number of loyal followers will allow you to create email lists that contain affiliate links.

Start by implementing these instructions and grow steadily from there.
